(16) Joe he mildly supports drilling but far offshore not where the updated new reports show massive oil in the Gulf of Mexico, etc.

He supports drilling in the areas where they have leases but not the shale oil.

We need it ALL and we need it now.

Glenn Obama has changed to favor drilling
(see Senate records)

Clean coal is also favored I think - though they are downplaying these issues to avoid pissing off knee-jerk constituents.

And he probably will be supportive of nuclear - this from a left wing site pissed at him:

Two top Exelon officials, Frank M. Clark, executive vice president, and John W. Rogers Jr., a director, are among his largest fund-raisers.

Another Obama donor,John W. Rowe, chairman of Exelon, is also chairman of the Nuclear Energy Institute, the nuclear power industry’s lobbying group, based in Washington. Exelon’s support for Mr. Obama far exceeds its support for any other presidential candidate.

In addition, Mr. Obama’s chief political strategist, David Axelrod, has worked as a consultant to Exelon. A spokeswoman for Exelon said Mr. Axelrod’s company had helped an Exelon subsidiary, Commonwealth Edison, with communications strategy periodically since 2002, but had no involvement in the leak controversy or other nuclear issues.

(12) Joe that is a big gamble about Barack I don't think there is any way he will ever support Nuclear, Clean Coal or Drilling - where we need to do it.

(12) Joe we also need desalination plants built right next to those plants and they should be built near the coast where appropriate or a major water source.

Two of our biggest challenges will be energy and acceptable drinking water.

Nuclear can deliver really inexpensive electricity we just need our government to make it happen - this is exactly the type of thing that a government is good for.

The regulation thing is a myth. I live in the shadow of Comanche Peak, which was one of the last nukes built. There would be dozens and dozens more built after that, but for one thing.

Nukes cannot compete with coal plants. Nukes cannot compete with natural gas plants.

Initially we got two power bills. One of the nuke and one for other. Other was dirt cheap. The nuke bill was astonishingly high. Texans threatened lynchings, so they averaged the nuke into the regular bill by extending the term on investment recovery.

We need at least 45 new nuclear power plants up and running within 5 years.

Finally something on which we can totally agree. We should be building nuclear plants like our lives depended on it, because they may. After the election Obama will eventually come around to strong support for nuclear because it's a key part of a good energy plan.

Unfortunately I think the over-regulation (!) makes it very hard to build these fast.

This is exactly the type of policy that Barack would impose. It is ludicrous to call for Utilities to restrict energy usage.

We need to solve the problem...not make things worse. This is another fine example of bad policy and bad politics.

Pennsylvania law tries to cut electricity usage
