If I choose to live in a world where with everything there are gifts. For example your Rabbit's Foot answer, then I wonder if Tom cruise's marriage to Katie Holmes (whom I've seen in person up close: very cute- plus my room mate met her & they danced together) perhaps that marriage is a contract so that the masses believe their beloved movie star is not a homosexual. Imagine how many religious straight to the book anti gay movie ticket dollars would change hoe they feel about TC. What if there are underlines like a code about their personal situation. If there is such a contract then when it's done the marriage should be off. Some say Kim Kardashian did something similar. The Rabbit's Foot could be the secret information that would ruin Tom Cruise and effect the business if Scientology.
Again this could be what is behind the secret curtain sort of speaking. Disguised in all this action story.

I also think that the gentleman's referrence of the MacGuff is a great answer. Now if I just choose to have a closed kind of mind then I would feel ripped off from our host's answer & think it's a bunch of crap but is it? How do we know 4 sure? We are not the pupet masters on that project. Others are. Others who we don not know up close & personal plus on an everyday basis.

Personally I think MI 1 & 4 are the best with 3 then 2.

I must say I still really want tot know what truly is the Rabbit's foot? Lawrence Fishburn's character tells ethan to find out he has to come back to the IMF, In MI4 he does. Does that mean he was told & is the answer in #4?
