Dead at 88

I just took this interesting life expectancy Quiz and got 88.    I’m OK with that I guess, but the quiz suggested that if I cut out fast food (which I eat a lot), I could add as many as 8 years to my life expectancy.

Hmmmm – More burgers and fries or more life, that is the question.

  1. There is no question that the American diet has radically changed. Even ‘three squares a day’ was not the norm during much of our history and the composition of those meals is clearly different. Micronutrient content is altered. Macronutrient content is altered. And ofcourse our forebears rarely had artificial sweeteners or other such wonders of the world of chemistry and shelf-life priority.

Its certain that ‘fast food’ moderation would help all of us but a return to wood stoves and all-day food preparation by housewives is just not going to happen.

  2. We engage in sex beyond what is needed for procreation. We eat foods of quantity and quality beyond what is needed for health. And land on the Vegas strip does not go for fifty million dollars an acre because players are strictly rational about risks and rewards. Certain of our behaviors are going to harm us. Its known as life. Enjoy it.

  3. Joe,
My policy on food is to go deep fied as much as possible (360 degrees kills all bacteria)! Also avoid vegetables as they are grown in the dirt and that’s where germs live, right? He He He……..

  4. Steak and fried potatoes?????

Steak was shown to be very damaging by the late Doctor Smathers and potatoes were proven to be very, very unhealthful by the late Doctor Brevet.
