WordPress Flickr – embed Flickr photos in WordPress blog

Maybe I’m just slow, but it took me a long time to figure out how to do some neat stuff with my Flickr pix and my WordPress hosted blog.

To embed your own Flickr photos in your WordPress blog you’ll need to first add the Flickr Widget by going to the WordPress Dashboard and selecting presentation, then sidebar widgets. Then, you click on the right side of the Flickr Widget, which opens up a dialog window, and you add your Flickr RSS feed. To get the RSS feed DO NOT log into Flickr, rather stay logged OUT and visit your own pix. The RSS feed will be located on that page. Note that your feed does NOT show up on Flickr when you are logged in (at least I could not find it and it, confusing the heck out of me for the first time in the otherwise amazingly intuitive Flickr).

  3. I have a Typepad blog and a WP blog I just started. I am fairly new to WP, so it is taking me a bit to learn the ins and outs of it all. I am a bit disappointed that with all the versatility of WP that I can’t just add a photo from my own computer into a post. I have to fiddle around with uploading photos somewhere else and then adding a bunch of size and location to the photo insert box before I can get the finished post ready to show to the public. Bleah to that! It IS entirely possible though that I just have not understood that there is a better way??

    Go to your control panel and click on Presentation.

    Click on “Sidebar Widgets”.

    Drag and drop the widget into your sidebar.

    Copy and paste the URL of your Flickr RSS feed.

  18. I’ve been struggling with this a few days now – I have no problem getting the widget up and running but I can’t link my Flickr page no matter what I do. My wordpress blog flickr window just says ‘more photos’ and of course it is blank. What am I doing wrong?

  20. well that’s just it I’ve used several things I think are ‘it’ but nothing seems to work. I’m getting frustrated now and just keep clicking on anything that might be ‘it’.

I’m just frustrated now I’ve tried sorting this out when I’m logged in and out of Flickr and even tried the Flickr mosaic creator thing which produces it’s own url and I still can’t get it sorted. May be I’m just too much of a noob and should just switch to Blogger lol. Thanks for promp assistance.

  24. I cannot find any reference to my RSS feed at the bottom of my flickr page. The only thing at the bottom is in regard to subscribing to the photostream eg Latest, Geofeed or KML. When you click on the RSS feed icon it merely asks if you want to subscribe to the feed and displays all your images down the page. I still don’t see it. I’ve tried using the URL from the top but that’s not right either.

  25. Well it appears there must have been something wrong with Flickr because I just carried out exactly the same steps as I tried to yesterday and now it is working perfectly. Once again thanks for your patience and assistance. Apparently computers are supposed to be the most frustrating things on the planet and I certainly agree with that.
