Pia Toscano was kicked off of American Idol tonight after the American viewing public displayed their musical ignorance yet again. Now, I’m not saying that American Idol is art in high form, rather American Idol is art in …. popular form. So I suppose it’s OK that Pia was a victim of what must have been her talent and good lucks, because she was one of the favorites for those of us who … know music… : )
OK, sure this is *partly* an SEO post hoping to see how JoeDuck can rank for searches for Pia Toscano and American Idol searches, but it’s also a reflection of my sadness at Pia’s departure from the show. I’m a fan of the show and most of the family has been watching it for many years. Pia’s departure is … a tragedy!
My working hypothesis is that there’s a bias in favor of the most appealing personalities and Pia did not come across as well as most of the others, so maybe that’s the reason Pia is no longer on American Idol. Stay tuned for more reports…

We all agree that she can sing, but she is boring!! I would not buy her records not buy tickets to her snooze fest of a show. Maybe that makes me “ignorant” as far as music goes, but I guess there are a lot more people that feel the same way or she would have gotten more votes. I didn’t even like her rendition of River Deep!!!
Pia was NOT well liked by the public. I own a business that traffics about 100 regular locals a day. The general thought was that “I’m not sure why exactly but I just don’t like her”. Sure she sings well but I think it was the lack of a genuine personality. She also came off a bit insecure outside of the singing and that always makes people uncomfortable. I have to admit I would have been okay with any of the bottim three going home but I have been waiting for this. Sorry.
I don’t agree with these comments. I looked forward to all Pia’s performances and now that she has been eliminated, I will not stick around.
I am so pist! pia and american idol,the cowboy,james! was the reason i wach the show this season! they had alot of talent this year!what they did to pia that made me cry!come on dude’s jlo is one movie star and she kik’s as but she can’t sing SORRY! and she get””’s to choose who can or can’t is it cause of marco antonio? t think so yes i do!

Thanks everybody for comments. Kats and Katie the reason I was so surprised was not just because she was probably my favorite (though I really like everybody this year – it’s a very talented group!), but just last week Pia was the top choice on some sites that place odds on the AI winner.
She has no soul. She does not move people, nor does he move on the stage. She sings with very little passion and she is just another Celine Dion.
I’ve not been following the show at all. I last recall seeing her odds posted at 17/2 but may be mistaken on that.
I don’t think the smart money puts money on any contestant in relation to their singing abilities. Bookies tend to know that their is nothing cheaper than talent.
She could sing tecbnically & looked great, but to me she had a superiority attitude, she did not move around like most entertainers. I just could not connect with her.
Wow, looks like Mark, damaris, me PLUS Randy, Steve, and Jennifer Lopez are her only fans (!).
I think a real challenge with Idol is that it’s a popularity contest run by the folks who call in call in. It’s brilliant from a marketing perspective because it creates a fan base as the show moves on, but it does not bring us the best talent.
