Did you apologize to your kids today for spending all their allowance money? And tens of thousands more of their money. For the rest of your life.

Did you thank your kid today for all the money they’ve been loaning you?

As a supporter of many of the changes President Obama has brought to our national table it’s painful to watch so many folks simply back away from the next glaring financial catastrophe which makes the last one look like a walk in the park.    It’s the massive US national debt and massive deficit spending that has been going on now for over a decade, though never on the scale of the coming years.

Ironically this is a problem all of us were talking about a *lot* before the economy melted down, and even before the GW Bush era of what is best called “fake conservatism”  doubled the national debt.    President Bush was able to push his irresponsible spending down the pike to Obama thanks to inheriting  a very robust Clinton era economy, keeping folks happy with tax cuts, and claiming the war spending was essential to preserve our freedom.   Where a handful of real fiscal conservatives cried foul, legions of fake conservatives stayed silent and followed the leads of the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity who suckered the gullible into focusing on the lies and distortions that fueled the Bush v. Gore,  Bush v.  Kerry, and McCain v. Obama campaigns.   Power was far more important to all the parties than sound principles of governance, spending, or national policy.

Now it’s Obama who is able to ignore the massive spending and debt because the economic meltdown he inherited from Bush has trumped concerns for the debt. and some form of stimulus is certainly called for according to almost all economists.

Thankfully the massive Obama spending stimulus appears to be bringing us out of recession though it’s not clear at what future cost.     In politics it’s hard for parties and Presidents to look too far past the big power curve, and in my view Obama and the Democrats won’t even work hard to undertand the implications of spending themselves past the 2012 elections and then they will just hope for a miracle.   More likely than a miracle is that we’ll see very high inflation as  the Government is virtually forced to print money to repay obligations since the tax rates required to repay the anticipated debts will be totally unsupportable and unsustainable.

Another irony of the situation is that all those formerly quiet “conservatives” are now quite reasonably suggesting we’re creating a new financial catastrophe, but the concerns are falling on deaf Democratic ears because these same people were not critical of their own political allies back when they did have a voice and they tend to blend in nonsense talking points (birth certificates, communist agendas, etc, etc) about Obama and the Democrats.

In simple terms we are saddling our children and future generations with a debt that almost certainly cannot be repaid in any conventional fashion.    The amounts are too staggering to understand even if you are well versed in accounting and math.   This interactive chart is worth a look if you want to see how the numbers shake out in terms of government spending per capita:   http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/US_per_capita_spending.html#usgs302

So, when you hug your son, daughter, niece or nephew today be sure to tell them “thanks for the money”  because they have been loaning you a LOT of money for the past ten years, especially this last one.   Many tens of thousands and growing hugely each year.

We’re stealing our kids prosperity away.   The least we can do is say “Thank you”.

P.S.   The solution to all this is remarkable simple.   After a few years of stimulus deficit spending the government should be required to lower spending to balance the budget over the following few years.  Our current massive entitlement and defense spending could sustain 100% of the required cuts to balance the budge without any significant diminished standards of living for Americans.

IMPORTANT:  Few of the comments below represent my views, but I avoid censoring politics here so I’ve chosen not to delete the many off topic comments.   I’m reconsidering that policy because much of the material below is, in my view, not helpful to any rational discussion of these topics.

Joe your drinking their kool-aid…we are no way anywhere near coming out of a recession…

Remember Obama said…pass the stimulus now or unemployment will go beyond 8%…well in the emergency they passed it and look where we are.

They are adjusting the numbers to eek out any sign of positive movement but it is all a farce and will come tumbling down soon.

Did you see what the Fed did last week? The last bond round we sold to foreign governments 7 year notes…and less than 10 days later the Fed bought nearly 50% of those bonds back…do you know what they call that?

Our Fed monetizing our debt…and you know what that means…they are just printing trillions of dollars…never in the history of economics has a government recovered from this type of monetizing…wake up…don’t believe anything coming out of the Obama White house – Welcome to Chicago politics at a national level.

Obama will go down in history was the worst president this country has ever had.

Hypocrisy, lies, corruption, arrogance, spamming…the regular folks with common sense wholly reject.

  3. glenn says:

Your post would have been more aptly named:

Did you apologize to your kids today for voting for Obama?

  4. the next generation says:

You’re welcome for the loan, all.

The interest alone is staggering, and the national debt will soon exceed our GDP. Our currency continues to be debased as we floor the accelerator toward the cliff of hyperinflation.

The article “Grand Illusion – Secrets of the Federal Reserve” is very enlightening: http://www.thecuttingedgenews.com/index.php?article=11194

“Until 1913, the U.S. government was restrained from overspending because it was completely reliant on tariffs and duties to generate revenue. The Sixteenth Amendment changed the game forever.

‘The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.'”

  5. glenn says:

Yeah nothing to see here…there is no corruption…

Obama & cronies have guaranteed $10 billion in loans to Pertrobas but what is more disturbing is socialist Soros invested $811 million in the same company. He must have an inside source?

Bloomberg reported Obama Financier George Soros bought a $811 million stake in Petrobas Brazil SA, making the Brazilian state-controlled oil company his investment fund’s largest holding.

    This is quite disturbing…

  6. glenn says:

Obama and the left are a national disgrace…this is getting pathetic.

    http://spectator.org/archives/2009/08/24/obamas-plan-to-desecrate-911

  7. JoeDuck says:

Glenn I’m still supportive of Obama as an excellent global leadership figure. The few corruption charges I’ve seen are complete nonsense. Big money flows all over the place and you can always look for any number of connections and they usually have nothing to do with corruption. In fact if folks had been listening to Soros’ investment warnings rather than fretting over his left wing politics we’d have dodged some of the big problems caused by the banking fiascos of the past few years. Soros saw this coming, told people, and then profited from the fact GW’s gang who presided over the banking collapse ignored his predictions.

Now, Obama is probably going to have to curtail the massive Govt spending but I think he’ll be doing that as soon as the recovering starts to firm up – a process that appears to be happening much faster than even he anticipated.

So far I think you’ve got to give Obama an A for Stimulus Economy, C for long term budget, A for foreign policy, and A+ for style.

  8. leland stamper says:

(7)Joe, the recovering that’s happening faster than anticipated, what is it that’s recovering?

  9. glenn says:

    (7) Joe seriously you have to stop drinking the kool-aid.

Obama is failing on all accounts. The stimulus is not happening…it’s a joke. The recession hasn’t stopped or hit bottom not even close.

Wake up…open your eyes and look at the real data, the truth and stop feeling and acting like a guilty white male that they want you to be…

  10. glenn says:

Just spend 5 minutes looking at this…

    http://usdebtclock.org/

No one in their right mind could ever think anything our government has done for a long time deserves an A.

Obama is destroying our existence with debt…it is pure insanity!!!

Why do you want to keep supporting this bubble mentality?

The idiot Bush summed it up perfectly…

“We needed to abandon free market principles to save the free market”…if that isn’t the stupidest comment anyone could ever make.

  11. glenn says:

Joe you need to read the truth and from people that actually have credibility. You want to listen to the same exact people who put us in this position.

Doesn’t that bother you…that the very same people who put us in this mess are still around? Bernake, et al?

Everyone thought this guy was nuts (Roubini) but he was exactly right about the situation in this country.

Open your eyes and read what is actually happening:

    http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/90227fdc-900d-11de-bc59-00144feabdc0.html?nclick_check=1

None of this had to happen…if they just didn’t pass the stimulus or TARP. All this is doing is prolonging and ultimately making the problem worse.

You can create a scam (the bubbles) and not expect a fallout when their great ponzi style schemes ultimately fail.

  12. JoeDuck says:

Glenn the criticism of the TARP and Stimulus programs would be more convincing if the markets were not showing a lot of confidence that we have in fact bought our way out of this. I’m skeptical that we are “solving” most of the problems as opposed to just pushing them forward, but the case that we’d be “better off right now” if there had been no bailouts is not reasonable at all. The predicted market meltdowns have not happened and we are seeing many signs of a robust recovery within a few years. I’m surprised this has worked so well, but it appears to have worked.

  13. glenn says:

    (13) Joe…these people are scamming all of us. Do you actually believe they will be honest with us? These are the same people that put in this position. They are playing games with the numbers and the markets are being manipulated in a major way. Similar things happened during the Great Depression.

And of course there is no corruption in DC…

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/27/richardson-investigation-killed-washington/?test=latestnews

  14. glenn says:

Joe according to Obama’s own words the stimulus has failed…he said and quite clearly…if we don’t pass the stimulus unemployment would go beyond 9% and it has…so why isn’t there any accountability for claims like that?

The GM bailout cost over $400k per job saved…is that how we want to do things in this country? Does anyone believe a bailout helps anyone except the special interest groups that Obama is paying off because they helped swindle America and get him elected?

Look at how much of a disgrace the Democratic party is now…Kennedy’s corpse hadn’t even assumed room temperature yet and people like Pelosi are exploiting his death.

The liberal left is as Un-American as you can get.

Look at Obama’s Czars – THEY DON’T EVEN HAVE TO GO THROUGH A FBI BACKROUND CHECK. Think about that – why not? These people have direct physical access to POTUS and we yet they don’t warrant a complete background check?

  15. leland stamper says:

    (7) Lots of people wondering what’s recovering in the real world.http://www.thegrio.com/2009/08/umeki-williams-would-flip-burgers.php

  16. leland stamper says:

    (17)Now that’s funny!

  17. glenn says:

Why won’t ABC or NBC run this ad on their networks? They are refusing to run the spot…gee I wonder why that could be? It wouldn’t have anything to do with the infomercial that ABC ran in June on Obamacare (oops…I mean KennedyCadavarCare)…

  18. leland stamper says:

http://www.katu.com/news/local/55413247.html From the Oregon state Economist. Warns it will be an extremely slow recovery. Another reason I’m curious what you see, Joe, that is recovering so fast. I want to know so that I can get in on it!

Watch this video…great question about tort reform…unfortunately the Democrats only gave half of the answer.

Howard Dean said they didn’t do tort reform because the people who wrote the bill didn’t want to take on the trial lawyers…unfortunately he forgot to add the 100’s of millions of dollars that the trials donate to Democratic candidates.

Funny how that little fact changes the whole reason for not putting forth tort reform.

Did you ever notice that the first priority of anything the government does is to increase the role and power of government at our expense and they never seem to want to actually solve a problem?

  20. glenn says:

At least Glenn Beck has the courage to expose all of the scumbag anti-Americans that Obama holds closely and promotes…a total travesty. Obama isn’t the first black American…he is the first Communist elected as president.

Bill Maher was right…the American people are pretty stupid to have voted the way they did.

    Great headline today…

Best 6-month rally for stocks since 1933…

That is exactly right…and that isn’t a good thing. We are just repeating what happened during those times and I would expect a major retreat from this artificial rally just like what happened over and over again in the 30’s. We probably won’t be out of this mess because of the outrageous government manipulation until 2030 or later. That is the price we have to pay for the reckless decisions being made.

Bill would give president emergency control of Internet

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.

They’re not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft of S.773 (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.

The new version would allow the president to “declare a cybersecurity emergency” relating to “non-governmental” computer networks and do what’s necessary to respond to the threat. Other sections of the proposal include a federal certification program for “cybersecurity professionals,” and a requirement that certain computer systems and networks in the private sector be managed by people who have been awarded that license.

Wake up America – time to take our country back!!!

  29. glenn says:

What are country is becoming…kiss your rights goodbye…hope all of those that voted for Obama are proud of the destruction of the greatest country in the world…now we can just settle to be just another one of the UN countries.

War – Obama Style…but hey does anyone actually think the liberal left really would ever want to win a war?

Where is the daily reporting of the growing body count like it was during Bush?

Now Cindy Sheehan is off her rocker…but it was ok when Bush was in office.

Obama’s policies are directly getting our soldiers killed and more importantly more and more people are not re-upping and there is a growing gap in the ranks from enlisted to officer – the chain of command will eventually break-down but that is exactly what Pelosi, Reid and Obama want.

  31. horatiox says:

    Re 27:

The Foxnews hype doesn’t bother me nearly as much as this proposed “cybersecurity” bill does (with one of those curious Rockefeller boys behind it). That does look rather Orwellian –though I believe it has bipartisan support. I have not noted much discussion of this, though I hope the EFF has taken note (and the EFF tend to be sort of non-partisan, thank Osiris).

Most of the leading “Democrats” (Feinstein, Hillary, Biden, Pelosi, etc) have had no problem joining the GOP and supporting these sorts of “enhanced security measures”. J-Edgar worked for both GOP and Demo admins (the Kennedy bros, those supposed great liberals, often blessed J-Edgar and McCarthyite like policies, at least until RFK’s demise).

    • glenn says:

FNC hype??? Glenn Beck was saying some of this stuff on CNN.

The cyber bill is just another in the line of growing fascist approaches our government is taking. Bush started a lot of this crap and Obama is taking it to full blown fascism.

Every day our country gets closer to a civil war…

  32. glenn says:

    Hypocrisy…

“In four short years Carol Shea-Porter has evolved from a rabble-rousing, town hall disrupting anti-war activist who once had to be forcibly removed from a President George Bush event in Portsmouth to a Member of Congress who instructed armed security guards to remove a frustrated voter from her own town hall event in Manchester on Saturday.”

“Four years ago Carol Shea-Porter protested at the State House alongside people dressed as Nazis while accusing the federal government of trying to “brand us like sheep.” On Saturday, she disparagingly referred to people who do not trust the same federal government to run our health care system as “these people.”

Watch Nazi fascism in action…and the guy removed is a retired police officer!!!

  33. horatiox says:

Obama sounds fairly moderate on health care, Glennster–which is to say, he sounds like he’s appeasing his pals in the insurance and medical industry. BO’s even nixed the “public option,” which most of the Demos support in some form or another (ie the Leahy reform plan). He’s no socialist–Hillary’s health care plans were probably superior– but engaging in business-as- usual, at least in terms of health care and the economy.

    • glenn says:

Please Horatiox…in Obama’s own words…to understand my views you need to look at who I surround myself with.

Obama is most definitely marxist, communist, fascist, etc…take your pick. The scumbags he has put into the czar positions, etc…is unbelievable. These people are downright dangerous and a threat to the security and well-being of all Americans.

      Van Jones,
      Sustein,
      Lloyd,
      Holdren,
      Browner,
      etc…

These people are rascists, criminals, self-avowed communists, etc. Listen to their speeches, read their writings, look at their positions – they ALL have insane radical positions on almost everything. An honest and ethical American would never appoint people like Van Jones in their administration – it is an outrage to have such a radical rascist so near the president. Being in the same room with this guy should make anyone uncomfortable.

Listen to Lloyd talking about how Chavez’s control of the media in Venuzuela is a good thing for government…my god man – wake up and understand what these un-American people are trying to do to our country and most specifically your individual freedoms – do you really think the government should make decisions for you?

Look at Holder – Black Panthers free as a bird, Richardson off the hook, but let’s go after the CIA so we can make our country even weaker.

We are headed to civil war in this country and everyone who voted for Obama has helped paved the way for the most dangerous and destructive times in the history of our country.

This type of stuff never ends well and it all could have been avoided – if the MSM did their job.

And Obama isn’t appeasing anyone…just like the fairness doctrince they will find some other sleazy way to back into the public option to screw us all. They just give a new name or just a different shade of lipstick on the same ole pig!

Simply unbelievable…can’t wait for the mid-term elections and 2012…hopefully liberals will be banished from our great country!

NLPC has uncovered a plan by the White House New Media operation to hire a technology vendor to conduct a massive, secret effort to harvest personal information on millions of Americans from social networking websites.

The information to be captured includes comments, tag lines, emails, audio, and video. The targeted sites include Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and others – any space where the White House “maintains a presence.”

In the course of investigating procurement by the White House New Media office, NLPC discovered a 51-page solicitation of bids that was filed on Friday, August 21, 2009. Filed as Solicitation # WHO-S-09-0003, it is posted at FedBizzOps.com. Click here to download a 51-page pdf of the solicitation.

While the solicitation specifies a 12-month contract, it allows for seven one-year extensions. It specifies no dollar cap. Other troubling issues include:

extremely broad secrecy terms preventing the vendor from disclosing to the public or the media what information is being captured and archived (page 7, “Restriction Against Disclosure”)

wholesale capturing of comments by non-White House staff on publicly accessible sites

capturing of content of any type (text, graphics, audio, or video)

capturing of comments by both Obama critics and supporters, with no restriction as to how the White House would use the information.

This is the third controversy involving the White House internet operations in less than a month. First, Obama’s New Media operation asked supporters to send information about critics of the White House health care effort to a White House email. This provoked a storm of criticism and the White House retreated. Then large number of people complained of getting email spam from the White House supporting the President’s health care position. Again the White House was forced to back down.

That might be construed as Orwellian. Bushco of course had no problem engaging in those sorts of dirty tricks. So, it’s a different flavor of corruption–yet ObamaCo has many leftovers from BushCo anyway. That said, I tend to agree with your assessment of Holder. He’s already done a few heinous things.

    • glenn says:

Get up to speed on what Van Jones and Sustein have been saying…these people are just plain nuts.

BTW…did you see the primary author of Obama’s stimulus plan was the co-founder of the Weather Underground?

Why are all these radicals having such a dramtic and important role in the future of our country?

Look at the farmers in CA…they are destroying them through environmental terrorism…I look forward to the day when DDT is back in full use and the populations of the world return back to healthy growth instead of the 2+ million African children dying each year because of bad population control policies guised as environmental policies…

Time for these fascists to be stopped!!!

  41. horatiox says:

Well, Elliot Abrams, Podhoretz, Paulsen made policy under Bush. Is Geithner worse than Abrams & Co? I doubt it.

    • glenn says:

This has nothing to do with Bush…I despised all of them as well. Remember last year I was the one screaming about Paulsen, etc during the meltdown. These people are all intellectually dishonest…

I can still hear Bush…we had to abandon free market principles to save the free market – that has to go down in history as literally the dumbest thing anyone has ever said.

Horatiox the American people are learning and need to learn and dig deep about the Progressive’s agenda…they are in lock step with marxists, communists, etc…their only goal is to take control of our government and eliminate our freedoms.

They put the planet, plants and animals above humans…all in order to control humans and it has little to do with actually saving the planet.

You have Lloyd (diversity czar in FCC) on tape stating Chavez is amazing and his control of the media is a model for governments – THIS IS NUTS!!!

You have Jones (green czar) admitting on tape that all of the environmental, etc policies are all about redistributing wealth and reparations, he also said that white people and white corporations are deliberately spraying posions on people of color – he said this – this year!!! – This guy is a rascist…

Holdren wants to steralize us with the water supply…

Holder – he is a nazi period…look at what he is doing…he will soon create civil war in this country…

Look at Sustein…I can’t even get started on this guy…

Obama hand picked these people, he support them and their radical agenda – even Jones on tape said Obama can’t say what we say because America would never accepts, etc…so Obama is by definition a fraud when in front of the American people – he just says what he has to say…it has nothing to do with the truth or his planned agenda.

Go back and look at the damage the environmental movement has done in the world – it has one goal – population control…not saving the planet. Rachel Carson and Silent Spring was instrumental in getting DDT banned. You know why? Because DDT at that point had saved the lives of over 500 million people in the world – they couldn’t have that…so now in Africa over 2 million children die each year of disease that DDT would have prevented.

To put the final nail in the environmental coffin two scientists from that right wing whacko school UofC Berkeley did extensive tests with DDT on humans…literally fed DDT directly to test subjects every day for 18 months (the amount ingested every day equalled 15X’s the normal annual exposure), after 18 months – NO SIDE EFFECTS, after 10 years – NO SIDE EFFECTS…

However the environmental movement achieved their goal – population control – by attacking something that interferes with their insane views.

  42. glenn says:

Horatiox…listen to this idiot from CA…Pete Stark…their logical is unbelievable.

They do this deliberately to turn everything upside down so people lose their ability to make common sense of things…

The politically elite are arrogant and quite frankly wrong about almost everything.

I’m not one to defend nannycrats, yet I thought Pete Stark sounded pretty astute on the budget issues, really. The questioner’s (Jan?) merely trying to start BS with his endless national debt rant (anyway, Bush’s expenditures led to this situation–we’re paying for US military). Jan’s a punk.

That said, there may be reasons to be concerned about ObamaCo’s associations with muslims. Then we should be concerned about all religious fanatics. Baptists and mormons should alarm us as much as muslims do.

    • glenn says:

Well any group that doesn’t support equal rights, treats humans with respect, etc…should be shunned world-wide. The extremists don’t have to be tolerated nor should they…

Stark wasn’t that astute, he was arrogant, demeaning and he refused to answer a simple question and then he goes to lengths to belittle the guy, where he went to school, how he grew up (my god maybe the school was his only option) and then he threatens bodily harm on the reporter…seriously wtf??? Did you listen to whole interview – he threatens to throw the guy out of the window!!!

Turns out that Van Jones is a 911 Truther…he thinks 9/11 was an inside job. Seriously Horatiox how could Obama appoint such a whacko…if he weren’t one himself?

      http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/09/truther-czar-obamas-green-czar-van.html

I guess all that stuff about Obama’s radical friends is all coming true afterall…what a bunch of BS this admin is!!!

    • glenn says:

There is no way people like Van Jones could have even passed a background check…so why are these people allowed to even speak to the POTUS…

  46. leland stamper says:

(48)Glenn, the video doesn’t show what incited the security people. Without that information it’s not possible to form an opinion that has any real foundation.

    • glenn says:

Sure it does. It is clearly shown in the video. And regardless these people were not doing anything wrong…they were asking questions and video taping.

Why are these people afraid to have their responses on tape?

Why would these people resort to violence to a stupid camera?

That is the point…they don’t respect our laws nor our way of life…

  47. horatiox says:

Congressman Stark at first responded quietly and intelligently to the Janster and obviously knows a bit more about budget issues than Jan. After a few minutes of fairly inane questions Stark became upset, yet asking Jan if he was a professional economist, etc. (which he obviously isn’t) was fairly reasonable. Jan kept needling the congressman with “but what about the national debt”????, and finally upset him. I don’t see any great Foxnews story (if anything, it backfired on Jan).

    • glenn says:

But isn’t that the exact problem…governments have construed their own form of economics not based on sound business practice but on manipulation because they believe they can control anything they want.

If we had a government that ran a balanced budget, etc and you know just happen to have to say No once in while to an expenditure and the elected congressmen didn’t have to worry about paying off their special interests that keep getting them elected…

We wouldn’t have deficits. You just happen to buy into the government way of doing things…I think looking back over the history of governments in our world they typically place last in efficiency, profitability and effectiveness.

So you think Stark is answering the questions…Henfeld just pushes the envelope because he is trying to make a name for himself.

None of this excuses the arrogance and demeaning attitude shown by Stark…nor does it excuse the threat of bodily harm. Stark knew who Henfeld was and he agreed to the interview.

These people are there to serve us, not the other way around and he has a moral and ethical obiligation to ansnwer any and all questions from the media or quite frankly from any citizen.

There are no such things as topics that are out of bounds, etc…we must question boldy and we must persist to get the answers to any questions asked.

  48. leland stamper says:

(50)I watched it again. I still don’t see it.

  49. leland stamper says:

(52)The tape is missing something. I want to know what agitated the guy at the booth in the first place. Even the interviewer says “stop taping”, makes me wonder, why? The guy may have been legitimately upset, we don’t know because that part isn’t shown.

    • glenn says:

Actually I think he was trying to calm the situation by saying…if the guy wants you stop taping…then stop taping.

How come they continually harrassed these people with physical intervention on their cameras? Doesn’t that seem odd to you? You just don’t walk up to someone and grab their camera it is a form of assault.

If they had nothing to hide they wouldn’t worry about the camera…unless of course it is against their religon to be photographed…probably not far from the truth since most of their ways would only seem modern if we were back in the stoneage.

The problem is there very well maybe decent people in congress (just a little cynical on my part) however you the Democratic party with leadership like Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd, Rangel, Waters, Boxers, Nagel, Schumer, etc…etc…

These people are unbelievable and horribly corrupt on ALL counts. Obama knows this and he has empowered these people to basically rape and pillage our country. The far left progressives in this country have completely hijacked our government and their branding is just the lastest version of communism.

At least Bill Clinton was smart enough to know how this country runs. Obama doesn’t have a clue, he is way out of his league here and the lack of true leadership only proves he is someone’s puppet and the far left progressives are controlling his strings.

I wouldn’t doubt it if Colin Powell retracts his endorsement soon, wouldn’t be surprised if you see some pretty big moves by Hillary and Bill…even they have to be embarrassed with what is going on. Obama’s presidency is becoming a joke.

2010 is going to usher the proper change that this country needs…no more politics as usual…we need to throw them ALL out.

  59. glenn says:

    Another insaniac czar…

Cass Sunstein just last year in his book wrote: the government would presume someone has consented to having his or her organs removed for transplantation into someone else when they die unless that person has explicitly indicated that his or her organs should not be taken.

Under such a policy, hospitals would harvest organs from people who never gave permission for this to be done.

Outlined in the 2008 book “Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness,” Sunstein and co-author Richard H. Thaler argued that the main reason that more people do not donate their organs is because they are required to choose donation.

See Obama, et al…don’t believe you are smart enough to make your own decisions and you are here to abide by the beck and call of our government and the elite scumbags running it. Imagine they can just harvest your organs without your consent.

This isn’t China nor is it ever going to become China.

Time for ALL the czars to go…and we need to eliminate the possibility of czars. The president has his cabinet and we need to maintain our three distinct branches of government and we need our elected officials to protect the US Constitution…not some radical agenda from a bunch of 60’s radical who quite frankly just hate America.

  60. glenn says:

Yeah like this story is a shocker…a lot of us have known this would happen if Obama got elected…

Barack Obama accused of making ‘Depression’ mistakes
Barack Obama is committing the same mistakes made by policymakers during the Great Depression, according to a new study endorsed by Nobel laureate James Buchanan.

His policies even have the potential to consign the US to a similar fate as Argentina, which suffered a painful and humiliating slide from first to Third World status last century, the paper says.

There are “troubling similarities” between the US President’s actions since taking office and those which in the 1930s sent the US and much of the world spiralling into the worst economic collapse in recorded history, says the new pamphlet, published by the Institute of Economic Affairs.

In particular, the authors, economists Charles Rowley of George Mason University and Nathanael Smith of the Locke Institute, claim that the White House’s plans to pour hundreds of billions of dollars of cash into the economy will undermine it in the long run. They say that by employing deficit spending and increased state intervention President Obama will ultimately hamper the long-term growth potential of the US economy and may risk delaying full economic recovery by several years.

Joe I guess your going to need yet another apology post…to all the families of victims from the Lockerbie flight. It looks like Obama and Clinton knew of the bombers release.

“British officials claim Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton were kept informed at all stages of discussions concerning Megrahi’s return.”

“The officials say the Americans spoke out because they were taken aback by the row over Megrahi’s release, not because they did not know it was about to happen.”

‘The US was kept fully in touch about everything that was going on with regard to Britain’s discussions with Libya in recent years and about Megrahi,’ said the Whitehall aide.”

‘We would never do anything about Lockerbie without discussing it with the US. It is disingenuous of them to act as though Megrahi’s return was out of the blue.”

‘They knew about our prisoner transfer agreement with Libya and they knew that the Scots were considering Megrahi’s case.’

    This is by definition Corruption:

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Friday slapped punitive tariffs on all car and light truck tires entering the United States from China in a decision that could anger the strategically important Asian powerhouse but placate union supporters important to his health care push at home.

Obama had until Sept. 17 — next week — to accept, reject or modify a U.S. International Trade Commission ruling that a rising tide of Chinese tires into the U.S. hurts American producers. A powerful union, United Steelworkers, blames the increase for the loss of thousands of American jobs.

The federal trade panel recommended a 55 percent tariff in the first year, 45 percent in the second year and 35 percent in the third year. Obama settled on slightly lower penalties — an extra 35 percent in the first year, 30 percent in the second, and 25 percent in the third, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said

“The president decided to remedy the clear disruption to the U.S. tire industry based on the facts and the law in this case,” Gibbs said.

  69. glenn says:

  70. horatiox says:

You think he should just allowed the chinese tires into US, without the penalties? Even some conservatives want to control asian imports which tend to be cheaper than US made products, and thus will out-sell US goods.

What happened to Duck? You must have scared him away with the Fox-speak, G.

Hey Glennster: do you have an email addy handy? Have some news to share.

    • glenn says:

Well I think right now with your debt situation with China, playing these games with them is not a good idea and to do it to pander to special interests here. It is just wrong.

We can build a better product, deliver it cheaper, etc… we just need to get the artificial barriers the government has created…i.e. unions, etc…

The entire point is our country is being destroyed by special interest groups. It is not about the 65%, 75%, 85% …it is about the 5% to 15% and catering to every single one of their needs even if they are not legally living here – and they do that because they want to lock in the these people for votes.

Look at the decisions, look at this cast of characters…read the constitution and see how far our country has drifted from it and then look how the in-power radical left want to take it.

People like Holder, Holdren, Sustein, Soros, Rathke etc…are very bad for this country – they have a very radical view of existence and even have a more radical view on what they think they should be able to control in our lives.

Most Americans want to be left along, given a fair chance and want to shoot for dreams, etc…

Remember by eliminating failure you have to by definition eliminate success. You can’t have one without the other.

      • horatiox says:

We can build a better product, deliver it cheaper, etc… we just need to get the artificial barriers the government has created…i.e. unions, etc…

I doubt we can deliver it cheaper than China does, so that’s one reason for the penalties/tariffs, etc., so that the cheaply-produced chinese goods (can we say Walmart) don’t leave the US products on the shelf. As a consumer, I do think it’s a bit inconvenient, yet I can understand the need to protect American workers–and companies. It’s a perspective thing: do you buy a Hyundai, or Chevy? etc. Obama’s probably just following orders from some Chevy execs, anyway.

    • glenn says:

How’s that trade war with China working out for you now Horatiox…? Obama’s definition of change…it is definitely not the change we need.

Did you see Chavez today announce that they are obtaining nuclear capability from Russia with Iran’s help as well?

Did you see Obama capitulate to DPRK and now will sit down with 1:1 talks with them? The very next day DPRK announced it will do another nuclear weapon test…

This approach is sophomoric at best…

  72. glenn says:

The world has not tackled the problems at the heart of the economic downturn and is likely to slip back into recession, according to one of the few mainstream economists who predicted the financial crisis.

Speaking at the Sibos conference in Hong Kong on Monday, William White, the highly-respected former chief economist at the Bank for International Settlements, also warned that government actions to help the economy in the short run may be sowing the seeds for future crises.

“Are we going into a W[-shaped recession]? Almost certainly. Are we going into an L? I would not be in the slightest bit surprised,” he said, referring to the risks of a so-called double-dip recession or a protracted stagnation like Japan suffered in the 1990s.

“The only thing that would really surprise me is a rapid and sustainable recovery from the position we’re in.”

The comments from Mr White, who ran the economic department at the central banks’ bank from 1995 to 2008, carry weight because he was one of the few senior figures to predict the financial crisis in the years before it struck.

Mr White repeatedly warned of dangerous imbalances in the global financial system as far back as 2003 and – breaking a great taboo in central banking circles at the time – he dared to challenge Alan Greenspan, then chairman of the Federal Reserve, over his policy of persistent cheap money.

    Delong on Obama’s TireGate:

    http://delong.typepad.com/sdj/2009/09/barack-obama-does-something-really-stupid-tire-tariffs.html

“”China isn’t doing anything wrong. For Chinese manufactures to sell us tires is not against the law. To say that China has committed a “clear violation” of the law is to badly misstate the case.””

The tariffs may seem quasi-leftist to some–(like Meyerson), but in effect they penalize chinese workers–and poor Americans really. It looks more like corporate protectionism than unionist.

    • glenn says:

Isn’t corporate protectionism the same as unionist for this regieme in the whitehouse?

BTW…this one stumps me as well…how does calling someone a liar mean you are a racist?…what is going on in this country???

Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst last week is drawing new recriminations from his colleagues, with a member of the Congressional Black Caucus suggesting that a failure to rebuke the South Carolina Republican is tantamount to supporting the most blatant form of organized racism in American history.

Horatiox I emailed Joe to have him give you my email…

  74. glenn says:

Welcome to the world of government control…this is absurd…

Likewise, it has been held that a member could not:

    call the President a “liar.”
    call the President a “hypocrite.”
describe the President’s veto of a bill as “cowardly.”
charge that the President has been “intellectually dishonest.”
refer to the President as “giving aid and comfort to the enemy.”
refer to alleged “sexual misconduct on the President’s part.”

  75. JoeDuck says:

Wilson’s “You Lie” outburst was outrageous and disrespectful. He should be deeply ashamed to have disgraced himself and his office and owes the entire country – not just the president – an apology.

The big losers here are the people of the state of South Carolina, which struggles often unfairly with the “racist state” branding. It’s an unreasonable stretch to assume Wilson’s comment was racist but showing such contempt for the President in that forum just adds fuel to that sad fire.

    • glenn says:

      You’re kidding right Joe…

Who cares that someone calls the president a liar?

They said far worse things about Bush and nobody uttered word.

The big scam here is that the liberals are losing big time on the national front. They know they can’t win these arguments with facts – so they play the race card. Krauthammer has it nailed on this one.

Quite frankly Obama is a liar and he deserves to be called out on it…just like Bush was.

What I don’t understand is how come you don’t see Obama coming out and rejecting people that have fallen around him? He has no problem stating he supports people and then when they get him in trouble he just throws them under the bus but he has NEVER said that those people were wrong and that he sumarily rejects their positions, statements.

Obama is the one that has surrounded himself with racists and radicals and we should have a national discussion on rascism because the liberals would definitely have the most to lose on that discussion.

This administration is imploding and the entire experiment is failing and we are getting stuck with the bill. Just like I said a year ago on this blog that ACORN is nothing more than an organized criminal organization with full and direct support of Obama – now here we are with complete proof of that and yet NO ONE in the frindge media (formerly MSM) is covering it. What exactly do you think is going to happen?

And even after multiple examples of ACORN actually to assist someone bring underage children into the sex trade here in the USA…there were 75 Democratic reps who voted to keep funding ACORN today – WTF is wrong with these people? Those 75 reps should be removed from office immediately – they have no morals, principles, etc…they are corrupt and are a direct danger to the USA.

The liberals are taking this country closer every day to violence and it is their arrogance and approach that is causing it.

    • glenn says:

Gee why would anyone think Obama is lying about healthcare?

  76. horatiox says:

The Wilson comment affair provides more evidence of the “Dumb and Dumber” political meme, if you will. Wilson’s outburst was, yes, dumb. Like most GOPers, Wilson puts on a sort of working class act to appeal to the rednecks out in Teabagville; of course, like most GOP politicos he works for the rich and powerful (and tobacco lobby).

The typical sentimental Demo reaction to Wilson was dumber. Democrats shouted down Bush for years (usually with some reason), and that was allowed with no censuring, or calls for moderation. And even if one disagrees with Wilson, he did at least point at the problem of health care and illegal immigration (which some of the Demo bills do allow for). It was no big deal.

The DramaCrats of course seized on the opportunity. Even Mamacita Pelosi at first said let it go, yet they had to vote on their little rebuke–typical meaningless mainstream politics as usual.

  77. glenn says:

How can anyone support the liberal left in this country?

Listen to Whoopi Goldberg defend ACORN…this is unbelievable…

One of the most offensive statements I have heard to date is what Whoopi said: “Who is going to care of the poor, Republicans”? Well the facts are…conservatives are far more giving than liberals to charities…

That is the main difference…liberals are selfish and want to control everything and keep their money have the government redistribute money from others. Liberals don’t believe in charity unless it is from the government.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/conservatives_more_liberal_giv.html

This is absurd that the View would actually defend these scumbags…the comparisons made here are so out of touch with reality…it is staggering. Do you just shut down a branchg of the mafia? ACORN is a criminal organization this has nothing to do with a few bad apples in the branch locations…this has to do with the bad apples running ACORN and ALL the affliated organizations like the SEIU, etc.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/03/conservatives_more_liberal_giv.html

Not ONCE did anyone on the view condemn these activities…but they skewered everyone else.

How can anyone in good conscience in any way shape or form be defending ANY of this? You have to be mentally ill to still be supporting this…

  78. glenn says:

Sorry links are not quite working today…

    • horatiox says:

The ACORN issue again shows the media-manipulation of both political parties. ACORN may do produce good for some poor folks, but they are hardly untouchable. ACORN has been investigated numerous times for corruption, and even fraudulent voter registration. Many LA democrats have objected to ACORN tactics, especially their patented late registration game: list a few thousand street people a few days before a big election, and Candidate X from the ‘hood goes to victory. (And really, that’s hardly new for either Demos or GOP). Demo regs are just BS-ing that ACORN never does anything wrong. They are playing the machiavellian style game: bogus registration helps us, therefore’s it’s good. Sort of Hugo Chavez style leftism.

Of course the reactionary right has seized upon the ACORN hysteria. The pimp-tactic was fairly sleazy, and possibly illegal (in some areas, taping people without their consent is a crime). Not all the ACORNers played along with the bogus set-up–they were turned away in some LA offices. SO the rightist play the machiavellian game as well: one office seemed to allow the prostie-hustle, so all of ACORN agrees to the prostie hustle! Baloney. While I object to most of the liberal apologists, I sort of agree with a few that ACORN corruption should be viewed as fairly trivial (though not completely). Other more serious issues confront us–even the issue of say Bush-Cheney war crimes, misrepresentation, etc.

However paranoid it sounds, the Media–network news, big blogs, pundits–produce these little scandals and affairs. They depend on them, really. Vox populi doesn’t really care for Reason; it prefers the salacious and tawdry.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/09/17/AR2009091703329_pf.html

    (1) “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits — either now or in the future,” he solemnly pledged. “I will not sign it if it adds one dime to the deficit, now or in the future. Period.”

Wonderful. The president seems serious, veto-ready, determined to hold the line. Until, notes Harvard economist Greg Mankiw, you get to Obama’s very next sentence: “And to prove that I’m serious, there will be a provision in this plan that requires us to come forward with more spending cuts if the savings we promised don’t materialize.”

This apparent strengthening of the pledge brilliantly and deceptively undermines it. What Obama suggests is that his plan will require mandatory spending cuts if the current rosy projections prove false. But there’s absolutely nothing automatic about such cuts. Every Congress is sovereign. Nothing enacted today will force a future Congress or a future president to make any cuts in any spending, mandatory or not.

Just look at the supposedly automatic Medicare cuts contained in the Sustainable Growth Rate formula enacted to constrain out-of-control Medicare spending. Every year since 2003, Congress has waived the cuts.

etc…read the whole article…good food for thought.

Glenn I’m concerned people will confuse the fact I’m not censoring things with support for what I see as some outrageous nonsense you are promoting here with the embedded videos.

I’m trying to think of a way to avoid any political censorship but maintain some propriety here.

    • glenn says:

Joe the point of the post was to expose Carter for what he is.

He equated the statement “you lie” as a form of racism when in fact Carter dozens if not 100’s of times in his political career has demonstrated racists comments.

In fact in GA he supported segegration and worked with members of the KKK…seriously why do people want to give these people a break?

Call them out…stop this intellectual dishonesty in this country and let’s get to the truth.

The current dishonesty about racism from the liberal left and their supporters is going to usher in a new era of racism and we will all be worse off.

      • JoeDuck says:

I really want to try to keep the discussions on topic from now on Glenn. This is a very different topic than “US Budget”.

My view is that we should not be calling Wilson racist for the shameful outburst and it’s not reasonable to label Jimmy Carter a racist *now* though sadly many Americans would have fit that definition in the 1930s. Most of the current flap should have ended with Wilson’s apology to President Obama.

I’m not up on Wilson’s past but I think a lot of folks feel that sympathy for “states rights” is sympathy for racism and that is not usually the case, though it’s also naive to think there is not a lot of lingering racism in the USA, especially the deep south. I’d hoped Obama’s election would smarten up the “race in America” discussion rather than heat it up, but that was naive of me.

  82. glenn says:

And this doesn’t bother you at all…do you think this was an up and up deal?

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/Obama-helps-strengthen-General-Electric-Putin-ties-59644627.html

Reuters reports an interesting nugget in the wake of President Barack Obama’s decision to grant Vladimir Putin his wish and kill the Eastern European missile shield:

Shortly after the pullback on the shield programme was announced, Russia’s government said Prime Minister Vladimir Putin would meet several U.S. executives on Friday from firms including General Electric, Morgan Stanley as well as TPG, one of the world’s largest private equity firms

General Electric may be the company with the closest ties to the Obama administration (if not, GE is second only to Goldman Sachs), and here we see the company benefiting from an abrupt foreign policy change made by President Obama. But GE isn’t the only company benefiting. Reuters paints the broader picture:

“U.S. companies have arguably lost out to some European companies in joint ventures, and better diplomacy will likely improve the chances for investors in the strategic sectors of the Russian economy,” said Carlo Gallo, senior Russia analyst at London-based consultancy Control Risks.

GE CEO Jeff Immelt sits on Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board, and GE owns MSNBC, the network famously friendly to Obama.

Ironically a similar thing happened the last time the progressives where in power…

GE cut a sweet deal with the Nazis…

Business as usual, Glennster. Morgan Stanley’s not exactly a liberal company. Russia’s been capitalist for what nearly 30 years now.

This looks like the centrist, pro-business Obama that even many GOPers voted for–. Let’s not go to war, but invest, do business, and in short, pimp: ‘Bama-nomics.

  83. glenn says:

Joe I understand want to stay on topic…however I think all of this impacts the budget…now you are a racist if you oppose Obamacare…which will be the biggest increase in spending yet.

You and I both know that it is impossible to bring in government run, controlled or sponsored healthcare without a tremendous increase and spending and ultimately an increase in our debt.

Glenn Beck on his show Friday finally had a complete picture of what this administration is about – I strongly suggest people open their eyes and understand what is going on here – it is clear as day if you are willing to see the entire picture and not just one component of it.

A lot of people have seen this coming almost two years. Once you understand it…you can see the impact to the country and everyone should stand up against this form of tyranny. The spending approach is key to their goals – they need to spend us to oblivion to force their agenda on the American people.

  84. glenn says:

You can get an idea of where the budget is going by watching the second part of the video above.

  85. glenn says:

    Happened last week…

This morning House Financial Services Committee chairman Rep. Barney Frank held a hearing on H.R. 1479, the “Community Reinvestment Modernization Act of 2009.” The bill’s purpose is “to close the wealth gap in the United States” by increasing “home ownership and small business ownership for low- and moderate-income borrowers and persons of color.” It would extend CRA’s strict lending requirements to non-bank institutions like credit unions, insurance companies, and mortgage lenders. It would also make CRA more explicitly race-based by requiring CRA standards to be applied to minorities, regardless of income, going beyond earlier requirements that applied solely to low- and moderate-income areas.

These clowns are just simply insane…!!!

    • horatiox says:

Obama’s mandatory health insurance proposal does not sound so great. Requiring people to buy health insurance, like liability insurance?? That’s hardly democratic or progressive: more like a type of corporate welfare –and unlikely it will be of much assistance to the po’ or underemployed. And the Demo regs have barely raised their voices. Even the Leahy sort of mixed plans, with a public option, seem more workable.

  86. glenn says:

Joe I am not the only one that knows the truth about Carter…you can censor it all you want but the truth ultimately gets out and the racism issue is key to increased spending by Obama…the liberals throw out the race card so the argument ends and they can push through their outrageous spending agenda…
