Retirement Information at Retire USA

Retire USA is growing as a helpful source of retirement information for the USA.    As always the challenges of creating and maintaining a large website were underestimated, but I think the final product is starting to come together nicely thanks to excellent city profiles on over 200 US cities, some great bloggers at our excellent Retirement Blog, and many thousands of individual retirement records in city by city categories of Health Care, Financial Services, Retirement Communities, and Real Estate.

As always any criticism or comments are very welcome.    One of the challenges is the sheer size of this topic – there are thousands of cities of interest and tens of thousands of potentially relevant listings so we are struggling a bit to decide whether to filter all that content or try to be very comprehensive and find ways to include everything we can find.    Thankfully, our Google “retirement search” (see top of page) allows folks to search both our site and the greater Google universe of content for more information.      We also have one of the most followed Twitter Account for Retirement information:   Twitter Retirement

We’ve got some good city by city coverage of all states now, so check it out and let me know what you think!

Ankle Sprains and Basketball Study – Braces work for “virgin ankles” as well as previously sprained ankles

A new study of ankle bracing suggests that you probably should be wearing one during active  sports like basketball or tennis even if you have NOT had an ankle injury:  www.uwhealth.org/news/wisconsin-study-shows-fewer-injuries-among-athletes-with-ankle-braces/31794

The surprise finding was that the bracing did NOT increase knee injuries and DID help with “virgin” ankles – ones that have not been injured before.

I’ll hope to have a lot more information about ankle sprains and other sprains at the website  “MySprain.com“, but it’s not live yet….

Eadweard J. Muybridge Google Doodle

Don’t miss today’s Google Doodle featuring an awesome animation inspired by the work of Eadweard J. Muybridge, a photographer whose innovative work was some of the earliest in the transition to modern day filmmaking.   Muybridge was hired by California industrialist Leland Stanford to settle a bet about whether all four of a horses hooves were off the ground when running.   As you can see from the Google Doodle animation they are off the ground, and many believe it was Muybridge’s innovative technique that provided others with the insights that led to modern day motion pictures.
